Atlantic Roofers is a progressive, growing commercial roofing enterprise with branches located throughout Atlantic Canada.  Operating for over 40 years, we pride ourselves on quality roofing techniques providing both roof repair and construction services to our customers.  Atlantic Roofers team members stay current with the latest technologies to offer a variety of roofing alternatives to our demanding customers.

We currently require a Junior Cost Estimator for our Moncton, NB branch, this is an entry level position.  The Junior Cost Estimator will be responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of full-cost estimates for projects, including materials and labour. He or she will be tasked with preparing and maintaining a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors, and establishing unit costs, labour rates, productivity factors and location impacts. This individual’s accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business, as under-estimates may cause significant financial losses and over-estimates may result in the inability to win bids. This position will also be required to complete office administrative functions. Other duties will be assigned as necessary.

Along with an innovative and confident attitude, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A willingness to work
  • Minimum of a diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology Program (CET),
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to do material and labour estimates.
  • Mathematical skills and analytical skills necessary to interpret job cost reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a team player,
  • Client service and public interaction skills,
  • Effective verbal and listening communications skills,
  • Organized and possess exceptional time management skills,
  • Knowledge and experience in estimating and the tendering process for both public and private projects would be an asset,
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, etc.),
  • Strong working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance,
  • Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job,
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision,
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license as some travel will be required,
  • Will be required to complete a criminal and credit check prior to being offered the position.

The following is an overview of Working conditions, but not complete:

  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment may be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
  • Requires ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet.
  • Excellent stamina is required.
  • Hazards associated with the construction industry.
